Interesting way of putting it...

According to KNDO-TV "SEATTLE Marching bands and a parade of Christmas characters and decorations have taken over Seattle's Westlake Center for the Macy's Holiday Parade"

Interesting choice of words to describe the Macy's Holiday Parade in Seattle featuring a great many westside high school marching bands. The event was televised live throughout Washington last Friday. Sounds like Spokane's Armed Forces Day and Lilac Festival Parade on May 19th, 2007 - but I think we usually have better weather!

Crossing the Cascades

snow pictures 004.jpg, originally uploaded by WestValleyMusic.

The WVHS Band stopped near Snoqualmie Summit, Nov 10th, enroute to the Auburn Festival of Marching Bands, in Auburn, WA.

A Yakima, WA TV station reporter - himself headed back to Yakima - did a story on the band's trip to the west side. The TV news story ran on the TV news in both Yakima and Spokane, WA.

Auburn Photo Gallery

27 photos have been added to the photo gallery. You can see just the Auburn photos in the Auburn 2006 Photo Gallery. Click on any photo to view, and then if you click on "All sizes" and go to the "Original" size, you can download HUGE 8 megapixel detailed images great for printing.

You can order prints through the above photo gallery - but we do not make any money for the band on those prints.

To Purchase Printed Photos and Earn Money for the Band Boosters...

I set up an online photo store containing photos from Auburn and Everett competitions. Go to the WVHS Marching Band 2006 photo gallery to see the photos. Order professionally printed photos on glossy photo paper and 100% of the profit will go to the Band Boosters.

Click on any image in the Gallery (there is more than one page) to see a larger image.

If you wish to purchase a high quality glossy print, click on Buy Prints/Gifts at the bottom of any photo and then choose your desired enlargment size: 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, 16x24, plus options to buy a photo place on the side of a coffee mug or t-shirt. Photo printing and the online service is provided by a company named Exposure Manager, who will mail prints after ordering.

To learn more about this, click on this link: online print ordering and learn how it works and benefits Band Boosters.

Closing Ceremony and the National Anthem

All bands take the field for the "retreat" closing ceremony and awards presentation.

West Valley Band rushes the stadium to cheer their award winning parent pit set up crew! Way to go all!

The West Valley Marching Band rushes over to cheer on Mt Spokane High School Marching Band, which won best overall at the competition. Mt Spokane Marching Band reciprocated with a rousing cheer for West Valley. Way to go Mt Spokane - and way to go both groups of band students for your "classy" performance and respect.

Auburn Parade and Marching Band Competition

These are not in any particular order. Parade and field show competition photos.

The weather was sunny for the parade and while they forecast a strong rain storm for the afternoon, it did not start to rain until everyone was back to the buses after their super field show performance. A few of the spectators gave West Valley a standing ovation - they nailed their performance and the crowd loved it.

(Note - larger versions of these photos and more from other parents will be uploaded to the photo gallery after the trip.)

The parent pit crew setup team is extremely hard to spot in this photo. See if you can find the parent pit crew setup team. It could be really hard.

They nailed it! And rain

Auburn Veterans Day Parade and Marching Band Competition

The Eagle Marching Band will head to the west side on Friday, November 10th, to march in the Auburn, WA Veteran's Day Parade on November 11th and will also perform in the band competition which gets underway at 2 pm in the Veterans Memorial Stadium. I understand WVHS will take the field at 4 pm on Saturday; because of the parade, this event starts late and runs way into the evening and does not have a "final competition" segment.

I hope to post some photos late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. I have to travel over on Thursday to assist with a family matter but will be able to attend the parade and the band competition on Saturday. So parents and friends of the band, check back Saturday for short text updates and maybe photos appearing very, very late on Saturday (maybe 10 pm to midnight) - and with a weak chance I might even manage to post some photos during the day.
