Want to watch the videos from the halftime or Joe Albi run throughs?

We are making a slight change to the availability of the band performance videos.

Until the first competition on October 6th, we are going to restrict access to the halftime and Joe Albi run-through videos to those who are on the Band email distribution list!

We are doing this for two reasons: (1) to provide an incentive for more students (and parents!) to sign up for the email distribution list, and (2) to keep our competition bands in the dark until the WVHS Band enters the field on October 6th!

So ... sign up for the Band email list right away!

Starting October 6th, we will post video and still photos of the band competition right here as usual because we know that many families, extended families and friends watch the Band performances on this web site. So, starting around Oct 6th, viewing will again be available to everyone.

Joe Albi Stadium Rehearsal Videos

The WVHS Marching Band rehearsed in the big arena at the Joe Albi Stadium in preparation for upcoming competitions. At the end of the rehearsal, the band performed two full run thrus of the Fall Show.

Here are links to "Run Thru #1" and "Run Thru #2" (#2 is more complete than #1):

Tonight's Halftime performance

The WVHS Band performed its Fall Show routine at the halftime of tonight's football game. Due to the weather, they did not wear their band uniforms and performed in street clothes instead. (This is a "critique" video only showing a wide view so that students can see all field positions during review of the video. Click on the "Download" option to download a higher quality version of this video. Works great with the Veoh Player.)

Upcoming events

The Band will perform at half-time of the football game this Friday @ WVHS. Parents - come watch and enjoy!

On Saturday, the Band will rehearse at Joe Albi Stadium, leaving WVHS by 7 am and returning to WVHS probably after 11 am.

Saturday, Oct 6th the band will perform in their first competition of the fall season at the Cavalcade of Bands at Kennewick High School in the Tri-Cities. Typically 30+ marching bands from schools throughout Washington, Idaho and Oregon take part.

I hope to post video of their first performance of the show from Friday's halftime this weekend - plus next week, I will post video of the Tri-Cities event. (Depending on timing and availability of the Internet, the Tri-Cities video might appear on Oct 6th or may have to wait until I return to Spokane).

A big welcome to new Band parents!

To help new band parents learn a bit about the band program and the purpose of the Band Boosters, some new pages have been added to this web site.

To see the quality of this band program, take a look at the list of awards won in recent years.

Your students work really hard to excel as the highest of high achievers.

But they and our band program need our support too - read this to learn more about the Band Boosters and all the fun activities that we do to support the music program.

High school band is quite a bit different than the middle school. Students begin rehearsals during the summer on both music and development of the Fall Field Show. Each Fall, high school bands from throughout the Northwest meet in competition at various venues. The WVHS Eagle Marching Band typically goes to four fall competitions plus other events during the year. These competitions may include any of:

* Cavalcade of Bands, Tri-Cities
* Pacific NW Marching Band Festival, Spokane
* Harvest Festival Marching Band Competition, Yakima
* Puget Sound Marching Band Competition, Everett
* Auburn Marching Band Festival, Auburn
* Wenatchee Apple Blossom Festival Parade
* Armed Forces and Lilac Festival Parade, Spokane
* Auburn Veteran's Day Parade, Auburn
* Jazz festivals
* Concert band festivals
* Solo and ensemble festivals

Parents are most welcome and encouraged to attend any of these events. You will be amazed at the spectacle and quality of performances put on by high school students from throughout the Northwest.

Please take a quick look at these photos from last year at Auburn Marching Band Festival, Auburn Veteran's Day Parade and winning at Everett, some other bands in Pasco last year and you will soon see why Band Boosters has so many enthusiastic parents!
