Cavalcade of Bands – What to Bring, Ticket Information, etc.

Important change from previous schedule -staying at Southridge High School! Some times change too!

I will try to get the updated schedule posted here later.

Important Change - WV will be staying at Southridge High School and not at Kennewick High School. This changes some times.

Parent Volunteers Needed

• We need a volunteer to take lots of photos of the band
• We need a volunteer to video tape the band performance in both the preliminary and the final competition! Yes, the finals!!!

Video recording suggestions

• use a tripod
• stay mostly wide angle so that most of the band and the formations can be seen at all times
• When recording in the evening under stadium lights, if you have a manual exposure control use it to decrease the exposure a little bit. Other wise the uniforms end up as indistinct bright white.

If you post the video to YouTube or Facebook, please let us know so that we post a link to it here on the band web site and Facebook page.

(Immediately following the Instrument Rental Night) Overview of the WVSD Band Program

2nd Instrument Rental Night: Tuesday, October 4, 5:00 – 6:30 PM
WHERE: West Valley High School (Band Room)
(Enter through the NW Gym entrance on Vista)
WHAT: Local Band Instrument Dealers will be here with rental instruments - they will also have accessories like reeds and valve oil.
(They have very affordable rent-to-own plans… check other local dealers, too)

Dear Jim!

What a fantastic surprise to see your students perform at the Symphony yesterday! Many folks might not know how very difficult it is in the first few weeks of school to get kids to play well...together...spread throughout the Fox. .... I watched the kids' faces as they focused intently on you from every corner of the theater, and I could tell they were proud ....! .... West Valley was beautifully represented yesterday and I bet those students will never forget the experience.
