Welcome to new Band Parents

Here is a welcome message from 2007 with information about the band program, specifically for new band parents. While written in 2007, it is still the same today.

This list is used primarily for urgent reminder messages, plus 1 message per month to remind you of your list membership (Sorry - I can't disable that feature). We generally send very few text messages on this list.

Monday - August 2 (6:00 - 7:30 PM)
Monday - August 9 (6:00 - 7:30 PM)

Just a reminder... don't memorize your music until you've been assigned a specific part. See you on Monday.

Band Car Wash - This Saturday July 24th

Car Wash this Saturday July 24th from 10-4.

Shifts are 10-1 and then 1-4.

We need students to either email or text if they want to work. We will also be having the drum majors contact students to see if they will work.

We also need parents to help with the 1-4 shift. Please let Sam know if you can help with the 1-4 shift.

Can you help with snacks for Summer Band Camp?

Calling all bakers and makers!! Unable to attend and help with Band Camp? Then bake or make some snacks for the kids. It helps us cut down on some of the cost of snacks for the kids if parents can make or send snacks.

Let me know if you have any questions on what to make or send.

Rest Stop Fundraiser

There are a lot of things starting to happen with the band. Please remember to check the website often as I will send emails and other information is posted to the website. There will be plenty of opportunity to volunteer your time. Please help in any way you can.

The West Valley Band Boosters will be having a fundraiser at the Sprague Lake Rest Area, Eastbound direction, on Tuesday, August 31st and Wednesday, September 1st. We will need everyone's help to make this fundraiser a success.

Here is a list of ways you can help. Please look at the options and call Diane Clinton at 892-5377 (home) or 714-8746 (cell) or send an e-mail to ddclinton "at" hotmail.com or diane.clinton "at" wvsd.com.

Work a shift: NOTE: Only 2 people can work per shift - either 2 adults, or 1 adult and 1 RESPONSIBLE student!

Tuesday, 8/31 or Wednesday, 9/1
  • 4:30 - 9:30 a.m.
  • 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • 1:30 - 6:30 p.m.
  • 6:00 - 11:00 p.m.
Provide supplies - we will be serving coffee, cold drinks, cookies, muffins, etc. to motorists for a donation.

You can bake or purchase:
  • Muffins
  • Banana bread, zucchini bread, pumpkin bread, etc.
  • Cinnamon rolls
  • Pastries

We will need a total of 28 dozen of these morning-type items. If you would like to bake ahead of time, you can freeze many of these items. If you are going to purchase, you will probably want to wait until closer to the fundraiser date.

You can also bake or purchase:
  • Cookies
  • Rice Krispie Treats
  • Brownies
We will need a total of 60 dozen of these items.

Procure or purchase paper goods and other food supplies:
  • 5 lbs. of coffee (need 3 total)
  • 8 oz. styrofoam cups - need about 1000
  • 1000 napkins
  • creamer
  • lemonade (can of powder mix)
  • tub of red vines licorice
  • Individually wrapped snacks like crackers, chips, chex mix, etc.
If anyone has any connections with grocery stores, Starbucks, snack food companies, etc., we can really use their donations for this fundraiser. However, be aware that no carbonated drinks, fruit, soups or other prepared food is allowed.

Band Car Wash this coming Saturday!

This is a reminder that we have another Band Car Wash this Saturday July 10th from 10-4. The last car wash did good so remember to tell everyone to come have their car washed again. I am sure they are dirty since the last one.

We need all Band Students that can help to come and work. The shifts are 10-1 and then 1-4. The more hands the easier it is.

I am also looking for a couple parents to help in the morning and a couple to help in the afternoon.

Please email me if your child is going to help or if you can help as a parent. Also let me know what time your child or you will be working.
