About this band web site

As of Fall 2005, this web site is operated by parents for the benefit of the WVHS music programs, including the marching band, the students, the Band Boosters and all others interested in the success of the WVHS band programs.

The purpose of the web site is to provide:

  1. A way to exchange information to/from band parents and others.
  2. A place to provide visibility for the band to the wider community in Spokane.
  3. To publish announcements about future band events, and reports on recent band activities.
  4. In the future, the web site may enable us to promote various fund raising opportunities.

Web site history
This web site was created during the summer of 2005 using available free resources (as compared to renting web server space). That's why part of it is hosted on a Comcast Internet account, the weblog/newsletter is hosted on BlogSpot.com and the online discussion forum is hosted by Delphi Forums.

The additional advantage of online, free web services, is that as the parent group will change from year to year, it is relatively easy to shift responsibility for the web site over to new parents as time goes on. We won't have to shift from one borrowed web server to another borrowed web server. Everything can stay put - the only things that will change will be a few email addresses and login user IDs.
