A sad announcement
It’s with great sadness that I report that Mr. Chris Hurd, the father of Alex (Trumpet) and Savannah (Clarinet/Percussion), was killed in a tragic camping accident over the weekend. More details may be forthcoming. The WVHS Band Boosters (Kay – coordinator) will be providing food for the family. There will be sign-up sheets available after Wednesday night’s concert. Please pray for Rosene and the family as they deal with their unexpected loss. An update will be placed in the box on the left side of the web page under the caption “Director’s Notes.” Thank you.

West Valley High School Band Unleashed
Along Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, the band Soul Lifted was performing on the sidewalk outside the Hard Rock Cafe.
Cory joined the fun - and soon, a lot of band members were dancing wildly with 700 to 800 people watching at any moment. What a blast! The kids loved it, the rock band loved it and the crowd loved it - parents should be proud of their student's classy act throughout this trip. Soul Lifted was great!
Some one who watched ran up and told Lori "That is the greatest group of kids I have ever seen" ... and gushed on and on about how great they are (we agree!)
The video runs 4 minutes 48 seconds - worth watching the entire video!
There may be some additional updates Sunday morning.

Web site updates during the San Francisco Trip
Parents and friends of band members - during the trip to the S.F. Bay area, this web site will be updated from the Bay area, sometimes "almost live". There will definitely be short text updates and photos sent from a cell phone camera - and real photos and video depending on availability of Internet access and time.
Still photos will be added to the WVBands Photo Gallery and time permitting, posted here too.
Video clips may appear in the S.F. Trip Videos (check there while we are traveling!) or they may appear as updates on the wvbands.org web site.
So visit the band's web site often and "ride along" from a distance.
