This is the last reminder about the Taco Bar Dinner tomorrow Friday May 21st. The dinner will be from 5:30 to 7 with a free fiddler recital afterward. The dinner cost is $5 and is all you can eat. This will be in the WV Commons/Cafeteria area. Money from this will go to help pay for the Bands Vancouver trip.

You will probably eat dinner tomorrow night. You might as well come and eat with us and help out the band.

Reminder that the end of the year Mirabeau Park Concert and BBQ will be Wednesday May 19 starting at 5pm. Each person is asked to bring an item. The flyer is on the web site if you are not sure what you need to bring along with your own chairs and drinks. This BBQ is free but it does cost the boosters to rent the park and other costs. We will be doing a pass the hat type of donation like we did last year to help offset some of these cost.

Update May 20th:

The weather held off just long enough for us to have a wonderful time in the Park. It was fun cooking 200 hamburgers and about 140 hotdogs. We had a tremendous turnout and a great time. I am sorry if you missed it. You missed some good food and a good show by the 5th grade band and our great WV band and Jazz Band.

Thanks to Lamont Cloy and Mark Jackson for helping cook, Mr. Loucks and Mr. Bosch for helping serve, Barry Kivett, Mark Jackson, and other parents that helped haul over band equipment, Janet Stutzman, Pam Hansen for helping clean up, and to all the parents and families that brought the extras.

CONCERT IN THE PARK

WVHS Band Program and WVSD Beginning Band

We are pleased to present our 2^nd Annual Concert in the Park, which will include performances by the West Valley High School Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble. Our special guests will be the award-winning West Valley School District Beginning Band. Here goes:

DATE: Wednesday, May 19

PLACE: Mirabeau Park (Stage Area)

TIME: 5:00 PM Barbeque (*see below)

6:00 PM Concert

7:00 PM Pack-Up/Clean-Up

*BARBEQUE: The West Valley Band Boosters will be sponsoring the barbeque and will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and buns. We need you to bring the following:

5^th Grade: Chips

9^th Grade: Plates, Plastic Silverware, Napkins

10^th Grade: Salad, Veggies, Fruit

11^th Grade: Dessert

12^th Grade: Condiments (Sliced Tomatoes & Onions, Cheese, Lettuce, Catsup, Mustard, etc.)

Also, you will need to bring your own non-alcoholic beverages for your family. Also, bring your own lawn chairs, cameras and video cameras for the barbeque and concert.

*CONCERT: We need some parents with PICK-UP TRUCKS to meet at WVHS at 3:30 PM to help transport our equipment to Mirabeau Park and back to WVHS after the concert. Please email me if you can help.

Here are the results from the 2010 Apple Blossom Festival Parade, which was held in Wenatchee, on Saturday, May 1:

• 1^st PLACE MARCHING BAND (AA) – West Valley High School
• 1^ST PLACE COLOR GUARD (AA) - West Valley High School

This was the smallest group I have taken to Wenatchee in last several years due to grades and other schedule conflicts, which makes this even sweeter. Thanks for your great support!
