On September 21, 2001, over 1,000 high school musicians came together at West Valley High School, Spokane, Washington, to perform as a single band in a grand performance of "America the Beautiful".

The performance was video taped and presented in New York; portions appeared nationwide on ABC's Good Morning America television program.

The following video was somewhat poorly taped using a handheld consumer camcorder. The titles are incorrect in that it says the performance was taped by PBS when in fact, it was taped by a local video production company.
