WV Band takes FIRST PLACE
The WVHS Eagle Marching Band took 1st place in the 3A division and was within striking distance of taking the overall parade sweepstakes. This is probably the fifth time out of six Wenatchee Apple Blossom Festival Parades that the Eagles have won their division. Incidently, WVHS is actually a 2A school but the band competes in the tougher 3A division.
The band lost a couple of points in the very tough military inspection due to a set of smudged shoes and one set of "wandering eyes". The judges are two USMC retirees who know their stuff and said that they know "to always expect the best out of West Valley". WV has a great reputation at this major Washington parade.
As some of you may have heard, one of the buses had mechanical problems as they were leaving Wenatchee. As twenty students helped push the bus out of the way, an off duty diesel engine mechanic and his wife were driving by. He said when he saw this he just had to help - and he spent an hour and half getting the bus engine working again. A huge thank you to him, his wife, and all the wonderful people of Wenatachee for their tremendous hospitality.
